Joneigh S. Khaldun, MD, MPH, FACEP is a nationally recognized healthcare executive, public health leader, and practicing emergency medicine physician known for building and leading high-impact teams to tackle some of the most pressing health challenges in the United States.
With a dynamic career spanning government, academia, nonprofit, and corporate sectors, Dr. Khaldun brings a rare ability to navigate and align systems, sectors, and ideologies to improve health outcomes for all. She previously served as Detroit’s Health Commissioner and later as Chief Deputy Director for Health in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, where she oversaw public health, Medicaid, and behavioral health for the state. She also led efforts in a Fortune 10 company to improve outcomes and access to care. Her collaborative work has contributed to tangible improvements in population health outcomes in maternal and child health, infectious diseases, and beyond.
Now, as President and CEO of the Public Health Accreditation Board, she leads the United States’ only national accrediting body for public health, setting the gold standard for public health excellence across the country.
