Peter W. McCauley, Sr. MD, CPE

Peter W. McCauley Sr., MD, CPE delivers a dynamic blend of clinical expertise,
strategic business insights, and impeccable success in meeting fiscal goals. With more than 30 years of leadership experience across the healthcare industry, spanning the provider and payor sectors, he is a Certified Physician Executive known for
championing innovation in care delivery and payment reform, including value based
care payment models. For 15 years (5/2010 - 5/2025) , Dr. McCauley held progressively senior leadership positions at the Cigna Group, a Fortune 16 healthcare benefits company.

As corporate medical officer, he led the national team of physician and nurse
executives, delivering strategic clinical guidance to health plan partners across U.S.
commercial markets. At the Cigna Group, Dr. McCauley held responsibility for enterprise value-based care initiatives that delivered as much as $600M in savings over a 10 year period with improved health outcomes. Prior to joining Cigna, he served as medical director of Gottlieb/West Towns PHO, Inc., for 14 years (1/1996 - 4/2010), where he directed medical management for a network of 210 specialists and primary care providers serving approximately 30,000 patients.

Dr. McCauley is a proven leader in navigating complex challenges and guiding highlevel strategic discussions. With deep insight into organizational dynamics, he brings distinct strengths in addressing human capital strategies, from developing talent to designing compensation. He currently serves as an independent advisor for 2Flo Ventures (9/2023 - present), a venture capital firm committed to delivering strong returns while reducing healthcare disparities. Dr. McCauley continues to practice pediatrics with over 35 years of direct patient care experience.

Dr. McCauley is widely respected as a courageous communicator with a strategic, bigpicture vision and a rare ability to connect with individuals at every level. A nationally recognized speaker and leader, Dr. McCauley was named one of Becker's Healthcare's Top Healthcare Leaders to Know in 2022, 2023, and 2024. He has also been honored by Crain's Chicago Business as a Notable Executive Leader.
He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Howard University and earned his
medical degree from the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine, where he
also completed his pediatric residency. Dr. McCauley is credentialed by the American
Association for Physician Leadership.
